Itezhi Tezhi Power Corporation (ITPC) has announced its readiness to finance a water project aimed at addressing water challenges in Itezhi Tezhi.
Speaking during a courtesy call by Itezhi Tezhi Member of Parliament Twaambo Mutinta, District Commissioner, and Itezhi Tezhi Town Council Chairperson Oliver Sitengu, ITPC reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of the local community.
The Corporation revealed that a feasibility study has already been conducted to establish a water plant, with only a few steps remaining to finalize specifications.
ITPC assured that once all necessary preparations are complete, it is prepared to fund the project.
The Member of Parliament, Twaambo Mutinta has called for short term measures to mitigate water challenges.
Itezhi Tezhi Member of Parliament Twaambo Mutinta noted the need for coordinated efforts to ensure the successful implementation of such significant projects.
He also called for improved communication between authorities and companies regarding project timelines to facilitate smooth execution.
Meanwhile, ITPC outlined various projects planned for 2025, including the renovation of two semi-detached flats, construction of a modern mothers’ shelter, a bus waiting shelter, and the installation of a borehole at Itumbi Rural Health Centre and Primary School.
The company also plans to support professional development for teachers, procurement of teaching and learning materials to align with the new curriculum, and social behavior change initiatives using drama and theater to promote environmental conservation.
ITPC has previously contributed to infrastructure improvements, including a facelift of the Itezhi Tezhi Modern Market through the installation of a billboard.
The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to collective development in the District.
