ISRAEL-HAMAS CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT

The latest on the Israel-Hamas ceasefire is that negotiators from both sides have agreed to a deal, mediated by US, Qatari, and Egyptian officials, which includes a three-phase plan.

- Phase 1: Hamas will release 33 hostages, including women, children, and those over 50 years old, while Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, begin withdrawing from some areas, and facilitate a significant increase in humanitarian aid into Gaza.

- Phase 2: Hamas is expected to free the remaining male hostages while Israel completes its withdrawal from Gaza.

- Phase 3: This phase includes the return of deceased hostages and the beginning of reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The deal has been met with mixed reactions, with some experts viewing it as a necessary step towards peace, while others see it as a bad deal for Israel. The agreement is set to last for 42 days, and its success will depend on the willingness of both parties to abide by its terms.
